Paki Lion, I agree with you that we need quality movies but we also need films that do well at the box office for the film industry to progress.

I just hope that PPP is a hit because then Mubasher Luqman can pay back the 46 lakh rupees he owes to Thailand film lab. According to the film lab Mubasher had 16 prints of his film processed by this lab but did a runner and failed to pay.

The film lab in turn has complained to the Pakistani Consulate in Thailand and has threatened to boycott Pakistani films in the future.

The film lab has also contacted the concerned people in the Pakistani film industry regarding the situation.

Luqman has not just given a bad name to the film industry but also to Pakistan.

Mubasher Luqman must came with a pretty good explanation.

I don't think Momi is in this film. A new lad called Adnan and Veena Malik are in the film for sure.

Agree with yoyo that one will see a change in Punjabi films for the good. This film and films like Majajan and Channa Sachi Muchi will prove that.

Majajan looks very promising.

This happened a few days back. The reason being she has been on a strict diet and basically been starving herself. She is currently recovering from her attack.

This attack has worried other models and actresses who are on similar strict diets.

Not are these models and actresses on strict diets but they are denying their bodies the vital vitamins, minerals and proteins.

The report about PPP is amazing because what I have read the film is a flop. It could not even go house full on the first day at Gulistan Cinema lahore.

Pakistani cinema is on decline. This can be judged from the fact that on Eidul Azha five films were released but none of them could pull the crowds to the cinema halls.

However, King Kong, did wonderful business.

The five films included three Punjabi and two Urdu films.

The said films had all the masala but they crashed at the box office.
Taken from 'The Post' today

The News International

On the film front, the Holywood production 'Kingkong' remained on the top of the list of the film-goers, and gave a good time to the cinema owners. 'Jism' was also a success story during Eid days while heavily invested big movies like 'Pehla Pehla Piyar', 'Athra', 'Madam Dihari Dar', and 'Shareef Gujar' could not do as good as it was being expected.

So one is getting mixed reports. Its hard to understand as who to believe and who not to.

The biggest hit in China was Mera Naam hai Mohabbat made in the mid 1970s. Recently a cultural organistation from China invited Ghulam Moyiuddin (The hero of MNHM) because they wanted to re-release the film again with a new print.

Last year a film a film delegation from Pakistan comprising of Shehzed Rafiq, Zara Shiekh, Jamshed Zafar went to China for Cultural Exchange. Shehzad Rafiq's Ghunghat, Nikkah and Rukhsati were shown there. The Chinese liked our films. They offered to co-produce films with us and also offered us to use their latest technical facilties. Like always our film makers have not taken advantage of this situation and are hell bent on chasing the Indians.

Another big advantage we have is that Indian films are not allowed to be shown in India. So our films won't have any competition. China has a popualtion of over 1 billion. Just imagine the market for films.

Our film makers are crazy to miss this opportunity. We won't get any where by following the Indians

You shouldn't worry what other people say. Just go ahead and prove the doubters wrong. Personally I would like to see short films being made on 35mm film instead of DV Cameras with that you will get more exposure and in turn you can submit your work all round the world.

You have already have mentioned that you have budget constraints but I cannot understand the people back home who are making films in the name of Independent Cinema. None of them have made films on 35mm. They are just wasting their time.

Sanam got completed a few years back but the producer for some reason has never released the film.

Sanam was love triangle with Saima and Reema both falling for Babar Ali. I even have the soundtrack of the film. It had some good songs. Music was given by Zulifqar Ali.

Javeria Jalil & Saud have traditional wedding

KARACHI- Unlike other celebrity marriages that are either a secret or an exclusive affair, Javeria Jalil and Saud's wedding was an open and much-hyped event attended by the city's elite, celebrities and media folk.

It was an oriental wedding all right. The celebrations started from December 21 and ended on 27th with Valima at Bradadari.

A Mehfil e Naat was observed on 21st, wherein both actors recited Naats. It was followed by Mehndi on 23rd at Orchard Club, Clifton. It was a joint function of both the families. Finally, on December 25, the grand wedding ceremony took place at Creek Club.

It was an eventful week for the families of both Saud and Javeria that brought together a whole galaxy of stars from TV and film.

On December 26, a musical evening was held at Gizri Lane V where relatively fewer guests were invited. It was a VIP event that saw ministers, leading singers such as Naeem Abbas Roofi, Fakhir Mahmood, Amjad Sabri, and comedian Umer Sharif crowding the place.

Veteran actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar arrived especially from Mumbai to attend the Mehendi ceremony, while those who came from Lahore included Moammar Rana, Madiha Shah, John Rambo, Sahiba, Khushbu, Arbaz Khan and Nadia Ali. From Karachi, Samina Pirzada, Behroz Sabzwari, Shabbir Jaan, Seema Ghazal, Aijaz Aslam, Adnan Siddiqui, Faisal Qureshi, and Saima Qureshi actively participated in the wedding feliciations.
Provincial Minister for Labour and Transport Adil Siddiqui and Provincial Minister for Sports and Culture Qamar Mansoor also attended the event.

On his wedding night, Saud reached the club with his family and friends doing bhangra but he was not allowed to enter the place in his ornamented Bagi that was pulled by four horses. He had to come back in his car. Uncles of Saud, Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi and Qari Asif Qasmi conducted the Nikkah proceedings.

Members of MQM Rabita Committee were also there to give blessings to the bride and the groom.

Security inside the club was constantly on the alert and a number of reporters were also barred from entering the arena.

The Valima ceremony was arranged in the lawn of Polo Ground Bagh-e-Jinnah.

I don't agree with you yoyo. What I am interested in is what the hell is going to be shown at the IMAX Cinema because even here in the UK very few commerical films get shown at the IMAX Cinemas. Its mostly documentries or kid films.

Personally the whole thing regarding building the IMAX Cinema is a total waste and is crazy. It would have been much better that the money could have been spent on reviving the film industry or build new Cinemas.

The whole IMAX Cinema experience is just a novelty thing.

Its great news that two new cineplexes will be opening next year. I hope the company's dream of building over 100 cineplexes is fulfilled. We urgently need good quality Cinemas.

For Hollywood films to be successful in Pakistan then piracy has to be controlled. This is also great opportunity of Pakistani films.

For more info on Cinepax go to the website www.cinepax.com

Great pics. Can't wait for this film. Inshallah this film and Saqib Malik's film will take our industry to new horizons.

One thing which is interesting that after Eid-ul-Fitr Shaan want to America for one month but he did not mention that he was going for the shooting of this film instead he said was going to meet his brother.

Ali Zafar did sing one song for Sameena Peerzadha's "Shararat".

Ali Zafar has given the music to Saqib Malik's film upcoming Ajnabee. We have huge a problem of inferior complex. This is the reason that in the last few years nearly all big budget Pakistani films have had Indian singers.

Why can't our film makers see our talent.

Nikama I feel sorry for you that you went and saw a film like Sarkar. You should have realised that it was a Punjabi film and what you were getting into.

Virtually all Punjabi films nowadays have only the three Vs in them. These are Violence, Vengence and Vulgarity. Only upcoming films like Majajan or Kangan are different.

Best thing is you should stick to Urdu Films.

Majajan is out of the Eid race. The film will get released after Eid-ul-Azha. Leaves the field open for PPP but only if Mubasher Luqman releases it on Eid.

The closure of Nishat Cinema is very sad news. Even in Lahore 3 main Cinemas are also closing down soon. The production of films have to go up. The industry cannot survive on 25 films a year as it is happening in the last few years.

Ask him these questions

When is he releasing the film.

Why did he need so much Indian help to complete his film. Not did he use Indian singers, but music director, choreography and the technical crew all came from India.

The Indians are using our music and our singers but why do we need Indian singers.

Is he planning to make another film.

What is the real reason for the delay with his film. Its been in the making for over 2 years.

Was the film premiered at the Kara Film Festival recently.

On another bulletin Mubasher himself said the film will get released by the 23rd. If not the 23rd then what about Eid. Even in the schedule of Eid films their is no mention of PPP being released. What is the reason for the delay ?.

Surprised by her choice but it is a love marriage. All the best to Hadiqa. After Nazia she has been the most popular female pop singer in our country.

Popular singer Hadiqa Kiyani had telephonic marriage with Afghani businessman Syed Farid Sarwari, who was in London at the time. Her family and friends attended the marriage function held at her residence in the Askari Apartments, Clifton.

Syed Haider Moddudi performed the Nikha ceremony. Her father-in-law Syed Ahmed Shah Sarwari was present on the occasion.

Hadiqa has disclosed that it is her love marriage. She recently adopted a child, who was rescued from the debris of the earthquake of October 8. "I would keep my son as close to me as my husband," she said.

A family friend who attended the Nikha ceremony said that Hadiqa is God fearing and kind to orphans and needy.

Emanating an aura of self-confidence, Hadiqa Kiyani can definitely be rated as one of the most fancied modern Indo-Pak music scene's pop diva. She appeared on the music scene in a kids show 'Aangan Aangan, Taray' followed by 'Rang Barangi Duniya' during the 80s - an era when the music scene was ruled over by light classical music singers.

Hadiqa graduated from Kinnaird College. Although, she had no deep craving to pursue studies, her good marks in graduation pushed her to enroll for Masters in Psychology from Government College, Lahore. She thinks that education helps one groom and understand life in a rather better way.

Right in her stance, but whether or not psychology helped her in the music career is another question! "In a lot of ways! I can understand the feelings of my fans better. Specially, on stage it really helps me to manage the crowd as I can understand what they really want to listen to."

Hadiqa proudly attributes the tutelage of Sohail Rana and Faiz Ahmed Khan (whom she respectfully calls Baba Faiz), for brushing her vocal skills and taught her the basics of sur and sangeet. Also her enrollment in a music school groomed her talent that she has in abundance.

For Hadiqa music is everything. "Actually music is inside me, in my heart, in my soul, its everywhere in me. I am a fanatic about music. The heavenly mania of music prompted into me with greater force at quite an early age. I got enrolled in a music school and studied music as a subject. Afterwards, I received formal training from tutors like Sohail Rana and Faiz Ahmed Khan. Later on, I got chance in various programmes on TV and released couple of albums and since then there was no looking back. I have also represented Pakistan on International level by participating in BBC1 programme, "National Lottery Live" in England, BBC 2 and ITV," she said.
